1/12th scale build guide

I just got done buiding me a new 1/12th to play with so while the build is fresh in my head I thought I'd type out some tips.  Building a 1/12th
scale is an exercise in attention to details. There are not many components that make up the chassis, but if any one of those is not working properly then it can severely affect your on track
performance. I’m a big believer in building the kit as setup in the instructions. Setups from the late 90s on seem pretty good out of the box and usually a really good start point for your track.

Chassis Prep

Before you put anything on the chassis prep it out by rounding the edges and angling the battery slots. Team CRC has a good guide (www.teamCRC.com) on their website in the Tech section.

Front End

The front end is essentially made of three pivot points (inner hinge pin, top kingpin
pivot ball, bottom kingpin pivot ball) on each side. The pivot balls should rotate freely in their joints. They are tight on first install, removing/reinstalling them a few times with a CRC Pivot Ball Install Tool usually frees them a bit.

Install the lower arm assembly on the car. Then attach the upper arm. The upper arm should flop freely when installed. If not realm out the hinge pin holes and/or polish the hinge pins.

Polish the kingpins with some good polish and then install them and steering hub and shim
it as stated in the instructions. The kingpin and steering hub should move freely up and down in the bottom pivot ball. If it binds you will need to polish more. Also make sure there are no burrs on the pivot ball. If there is trim them with hobby knife.
